Top 8 Home Decor Accessories Everyone Should Have

Decorating is somehow a personal matter and it should be at least. Home decor holds many different elements of design, from choosing the right flooring to how the furniture should be organized in each room. We all have our own tastes, we can use different combinations of color, structure, and furnishings to make our homes more welcoming, comfortable, and practical.

However, regardless of the fact that you are free to decorate with whatever you like, here are some essential items that every home should have. It won’t matter what style you have for your home because having these accessories and items will make sure that it will always look its best.

Vases or Bowl

Out of all the accessories used in a home, vases have one of the longest histories. Did you know that the oldest known vases date back to ancient Greece where they were made for practical uses such as for storing medicine, oils, food, and water? These vases have been discovered from around 5000 B.C., where the pictures and carvings displayed present some of the best information we have about ancient Greek life.

In our time, vases are mostly made from ceramic, crystal and glass are used to add to our home decor. Use them to display fresh flowers (yes, we suggest you use real ones).

Statement Lighting

A home should at least have one great light either a statement, a contemporary floor lamp, sculptural table lamp, or a lovely sconce. The rarer the piece, the better. Go find a unique statement item to some wow factor to space.

Wall Arts

Now choosing a piece of art greatly depends on the eye of the beholder. You can never be too creative when it comes to styling such as jewelry for your walls. You can choose from traditional prints, oil, or acrylic canvas, boho, macrame, wall weavings, mobiles, tapestries, or display cubbies to create a stylish home.

Trays can be used for practical reasons. Obviously, these are great for carrying multiple items at the same time, but you can use to corral accessories on a table surface and have a sense of organization to decorative vignettes. If you place multiple items on a tray they will look more organized and better. There are so many trays today that are so stylish, so find something that suits your style and color you love.

Vintage Pieces

Even if you’re keeping a modern design, every home should have something vintage. It might be a piece of furniture, an accessory, fabric framed or hung on the wall. Decorating your home with vintage items can add a taste of history and character that can’t be found with new items.

Having rugs at home offer a layer of warmth and comfort beneath your feet that is unrivaled by any other floor covering. They are available in limitless patterns, hues, and styles that were always used to accessorize homes for a very long time. Antique rugs are normally considered as family heirlooms and passed down through the generations.

Books today are becoming less ordinary but there are still great reasons to have them in your room. You can use them to fill the empty shelves left and they look lovely when you include them in coffee table displays, or useful flipping through when your guests are waiting. Incorporate some book in your home, you should have at least a few.

Window Treatments

If your windows are empty, what do you feel? You feel cold and not welcoming, right? To avoid this, you can add some sort of window treatment, whether they’re drapes, shutters, blinds, on every single window in your home. There are plenty of treatment options out there and we suggest that you opt for something that’s based on personal taste, the style of the room, the shape of the window and quantity of privacy you want.
