Acne Fighting Skincare Routine with the Clarisonic Mia 1

I have been wanting to test out the Clarisonic Mia 1 for forever, but never made the commitment to purchase. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that, being the beauty junkie that I am, but I have tried several other brands of similar product and was always left disappointed. Why splurge when the knock offs don’t work? Literally the worst advice ever and don’t listen to me, but that was my mindset!I have acne prone, sensitive, and oily skin. Lucky me! From my past experience with other products similar to this one, my skin would break out more, get irritated and turn red, and completely strip my skin of all the oil. Obviously, I was hesitant to try this. However, I decided to give it a whirl. My skin has been in great shape lately so the worst that could happen was completely reverse the skin I worked so hard to achieve. I’m quite the dare devil these days. Thanks to Clarisonic and HerCampus I was able to test out the Clarisonic Mia 1, Pore and Blemish Gel Cleanser, Radiant Brush Head, Acne Brush Head, and Deep Pore Brush Head. Check out my review below! The Clarisonic Mia 1The Clairsonic Mia 1 is a sonic-cleansing brush designed to cleanse your skin for cleaner, smoother, and more radiant skin. It claims to clean 6x better than your hands alone. When you turn the device on, it vibrates, so when you use it on your skin it should loosen and remove the dirt and oil stuck in your pores. It’s waterproof and comes with a charger. It’s one speed is perfect for all skin types, even super sensitive skin (like mine)! I love how light + easy the device is to use. It even turns off after 1 minute which I appreciate so you don’t brush your skin raw. It’s hard to not get carried away because it feels so nice on my skin! Here’s what Clarisonic has to say about their Mia 1:The bristles of a Clarisonic cleansing brush head move back and forth, or “oscillate”, gently flexing the skin and flushing water and cleanser into pores. This sonic cleansing process removes the dirt, oil and debris that ages your skin and causes breakouts. Because Clarisonic facial cleansing devices don’t exfoliate – a common myth! – Clarisonic is gentle enough for twice-daily use, even on the most sensitive skin. Pore & Blemish Gel CleanserThis cleanser is designed for acne-prone sensitive skin. It contains 2% Salicylic Acid and a micro-exfoliating Lipo Hydroxy Acid to provide cell removal of debris and dirt. I personally love this cleanser, which surprised because usually the cleansers that come with devices like this are total crap. It turns into a bubble foamy substance when on your skin and it gives your skin this tingly sensation when you wash it off that makes your skin feel really fresh and clean. Does that make sense? Anyways, I’m into it and haven’t reached for any of my other cleansers since trying this one. Radiance Brush HeadThe Radiance Brush Head is what comes with your Mia 1. If you have pretty clear skin already, you’ll probably love this. It has really fine bristles on it so it definitely feels nice on your skin. However, I wasn’t impressed with it. It didn’t feel like it really got into the nitty gritty of my skin. If you have severe acne, this brush head isn’t for you. Acne Brush HeadThe Acne Brush Head is for acne prone, sensitive, and oily skin. My skin got a pretty good clean with this brush head, and I like the fact that the bristles are nice and soft so they don’t  irritate my breakouts that get really sore. You know those pimples under the skin that swell up and hurt really badly? They suck, but I love that this doesn’t make them more sore. A huge plus in my book.Deep Pore Brush HeadMy. Favorite. Brush. Head. Not only do I have  acne prone, sensitive, and oily skin, but I also have enlarged pores that get blackheads stuck in them. Ladies who have similar skin to mine, how many products do you use in a day to combat all of these things?! At least a few right? Now you have one brush head that combats all of these skin factors, and it does a phenomenal job. This is the brush head that I use every single night. I find that this device with this brush head works best after I have exfoliated beforehand. It also helps to get your pores loose with a damp warm cloth before using this device as well. Doing this will get your pores opened up so the device can work its magic and get that dirt and oil out! My skin feels silky smooth after using, and my breakouts stay under control. If you have acne prone skin + pore issues, I highly highly recommend purchasing this brush head.Common Myths:Clarisonic does not exfoliate, it sonic cleanses It does not cause breakouts, contrary to popular belief. If you are breaking out from using this device it’s probably because your are using it for over a minute and you’re irritating your skin Clarisonic does not harbor bacteria. The brush heads are made of a soft, non-porous material and each bristle tip is rounded for the best cleanse Overall VerdictI don’t plan on stopping use of this product anytime soon. I’m getting the best cleanse possible using this product and it gets rid of all my texture issues so my skin is left looking radiant and flawless. It works well with my other products I’m using to make my skin clear and bright, and my makeup looks so flawless when I apply it. It’s been easier than I thought it would be to incorporate into my routine. This product is an investment, but an investment in your skin will pay off for the rest of your life! I never regret splurging on good skincare. Also, Clarisonic offers a payment plan which I think is incredible. Do you ever hear of beauty brands doing that? For less than a latte a week you can have clearer looking skin! I love brands that make their products available to everyone. For a limited time, Clarisonic is offering a 15% promo all of YOU so you can try this product at a discounted price.
