2017 Reflections + 2018 Resolutions – Mavelle style

As 2017 comes to an end we naturally reflect on the past year. Some of us with happy thoughts and memories, others ready to leave 2017 in the past and move on to what the future holds. I personally had a pretty good 2017 and I am still very excited for what 2018 holds for me, in both my personal life as well as for my businesses, Mavelle Media, Mavelle Style and Rodan + Fields. This year, I’ve decided to do things differently as far as creating resolutions and reflecting on the past. I am going to start a New Year’s Journal that my husband and I can write in every January 1st. Individually or together, we will see how it works best because this is the first year, we will address the below 5 points. Then every year we will have our reflections and goals in one location to look back on.This doesn’t have to be anything formal. If you don’t want to keep a journal, you can discuss these 5 points with your significant other or family over New Year’s Day Brunch or however you chose to spend the first day of the New Year with loved ones.Below are the 5 points to journal about or have as your New Year’s Day conversation topics:Write down 5 or more accomplishments, happy memories or things you are proud of from 2017. Write down 5 or more accomplishments or milestones you hope to achieve in 2018. Write down the names of 5 people who in 2017 were there for you through hard times, celebrated. your accomplishments, encouraged you, etc. and send them a “thank you” letter, text or email letting them know you appreciate their friendship. Write down the names of 5 people that you missed in 2017 and hope to see more of in 2018 and send them a “thinking of you” letter, text or email letting them know. Write down 5 ways that will help you work on self-care in order to be the best version of yourself in 2018 as well as help you achieve the accomplishments you wrote down during step 2. The best part about writing everything down in one place is that come this time the following year you can reflect not only on the most recent year but the years before as well. No matter how hard one year is, you will always be able to go back in time, read your 5 memories and accomplishments from step 1 each year, and remember how much you have achieved over the years and how much you have to be proud of. Trust me, there will always be something to look back on and smile about.I hope you all had a wonderful 2017. Thank you for following me on my blogging journey this past year and I look forward to continuing connecting with Mavelle style readers in 2018.Happy New Year, Lovies.XO,Jen
