Although it may not feel like it in Toronto – it’s officially fall. Today, on the blog I talk about the 11 fall items every girl should have in their wardrobe.
I love turtlenecks. They are so versatile. You can wear them on their own or underneath a sweater or poncho. There are so many different ways to style them. I end up living in turtlenecks throughout fall and winter!
2. Leather Jacket
Every girl needs a leather jacket in their life. It’s the season and also it can make any outfit look chic. You can be wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt but once you throw on a leather jacket – it takes the outfit to another level. I suggest you invest in a good leather jacket so that it can last you a couple of seasons.
I think this category is my favourite. Actually, second favourite – first is boots. When it comes to fall fashion – I think it’s all about the knitwear. It’s always good to invest in some good pieces to have in your closet. Don’t go buying every single piece that is on sale. Invest! These will last you for more than a few seasons and the classics will never go out of style. Knitwear is fairly easy to dress up and dress down. My go-to look has always been leggings with some sort of long, comfy sweater. Always look for pieces that you will want to turn to over and over again. Don’t buy pieces that you are only going to wear once, take a picture and throw it in the back of your closet – You know what I’m talking about!
Go out and buy a pair of comfortable sneakers that match most of your wardrobe. They should be a pair that you could potentially wear everyday. These are for the days where you feel like being super casual and comfortable. Perhaps when you are running errands around the city.
Since I have suggested sneakers as a comfortable piece. I am going to suggest buying fancy pair of boots/booties. I tend to go for black because it can go with almost anything in my fall wardrobe but this year I want you to step out of your comfort zone. There are so many new designs to chose from. Add some fun into the dark wardrobe you have (this is just me giving myself advice)!
Blazers on all over the place this year. They have made a huge comeback. The good thing about this is that the designs, shapes and styles of the blazers have changed. These days all I have been seeing are they boyfriend pinstriped blazers and I’m not going to lie, I love the look. You can dress it up for work or a night out. You can dress it down with distressed jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. If you aren’t into blazers, I would recommend at least having a black one in your closet.
7. Long Blouse
I love long blouses. I am sure you can tell with my instagram posts. I am all about them. They are versatile. You can wear them alone, underneath a shorter sweater or underneath a cardigan. It will always add a chicness to your outfit.
8. Black Jeans
If you don’t have a pair of black jeans than girl, you are missing out! Black jeans in the fall/winter are necessary. Not that I’m saying that you can’t wear them in the summer (I sure do) but now you won’t get weird looks from people. If I am in the mood of wearing jeans in the fall – I turn to black jeans. You can do an all black outfit or be a little more daring and add a bright colour. It all goes!
It’s the season of joggers. I’m not talking about the big wal-mart sweatpants you wear around the house. I am talking about chic joggers. Fashionistas rock these all over the streets. I love this trend. Why? because I love comfort and what is better than looking chic and being comfortable all at the same time. I love joggers in the fall because you can pair them with cute knitwear and boots/sneakers. Play around with different styles and looks. You won’t be disappointed!
Sweatshirts aren’t just a wear at home thing anymore. There are so many cute styles! I also suggest to invest in one or two of these. They are easy to throw on if you are running out the door (but still want to look cute) or if you just want to be comfortable. They are also cozy and warm.
11. Blanket Scarfs
Who doesn’t want to have a blanket scarf wrapped around them so they can stay cozy and warm during those cold fall days. Invest in one that goes with most of your wardrobe and your fall coat (the one you throw on almost everyday). You don’t need to buy a bunch – Just have one or maybe two that you will wear throughout the season. (I should listen to my own advice because I have a basket full of them – haha but my excuse is that I have collected them over the years).
